Rent The Musical is Entertaining Fans!
Rent opened on February 13, 1996 at the New York Theater Workshop in New York City, after the series of previews that started on January 26, 1996; before the production moved to Broadway. The opening of Rent in Broadway had its debut on April 29, 1996 at the Nederlander Theater. The cast album's complete recording includes a double-disc collection with the 'Season of Love' remix version featuring Stevie Wonder, and highlights of the 'best of' on a single-disc.
The popularity of Rent in Broadway was literally by word-of-mouth and critical acclaims that made it very successful. On April 24, 2006, for the tenth anniversary of the rock opera, a stage performance brought and reunited the Original Broadway Cast of Rent at the Nederlander Theater. Rent belongs to the number seven spot for the longest running show in Broadway, with at least 4,300 productions and still counting. Compared to The Phantom of the Opera, Broadway's longest running musical and still running, Rent is still eight long years behind.

In 1996, Rent won four out of its ten Tony Awards nomination which includes Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score and Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical. Rent also won various Awards for different categories in many various award-giving bodies.
