All About the Spartans

The Michigan State Spartans play in the NCAA Division I-A and compete in the Big Ten Conference. They play at the Spartan Stadium which seats 75,000 people. They renovated and added 3,000 more seats and a luxury box and club seating. Mark Dantonio is their new head coach. Their most famous arch rival is the University of Michigan. Penn State is also a great rival for the Spartans.

Starting out in 1884, the football team for Michigan University gained status in 1886. 1951 brought the Spartans an undefeated year and untied them from the national championship with Tennessee. The 1952 season brought an unparalleled winning streak for almost twenty four games. They were admitted into the Big Ten in 1953.
