About the Emerald Bowl

The Emerald Bowl is an annual after season college football game. The Emerald Bowl has been recognized with the NCAA. Since 2002 the game is held each year at the 40,800-seat AT&T Park in San Francisco, California. The bowl was once called "San Francisco Bowl". The official former name of the bowl was the Diamond Walnut San Francisco Bowl from 2002 to 2003. This was done to name the competition after the title sponsors, Diamond from California.

2004 proved to be a record setting year for the Emerald Bowl. Towards the end of the game, the Navy led the game with a 31-19 lead. Their opponents, New Mexico were pushed in to a three-and-out. This was done culminating in a goal-line stand. The Midshipmen took over the offense and made an outstanding drive that had a total of 26 plays and 94 yards, in 14 minutes and 26 seconds on the game clock. The game was then stretched into the fourth quarter. It was after the game that the NCAA acknowledged the drive to be historic. It set the record for the number of plays in a drive and also for the possession of time in a drive.
