The Proud History of the Blue Devils
A member of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division 1, Duke University's Duke Blue Devils is considered one of the best basketball teams in the division, having won a national championship under its belt, 16 Atlantic Coast Conference championship titles, which is probably the reason why the National Basketball Association (NBA) drafted 71 players from the Duke University's talented basketball squad.
With most of its Men's Basketball championship titles steered by an All American team, the Duke Blue Devils of Durham, North Carolina made its way winning the top plum for 16 conferences (1960, 1963, 1964, 1966, 1978, 1986, 1988, 1992, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2006) of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). On top of the 16 national conference championships, the Blue Devils, donning in their flashy blue and white jerseys, also pocketed 18 titles for the ACC regular seasons (1954, 1958, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1986, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2006). It was also during these hay-days that the Blue Devils posted 200 straight appearances 1996-2007) in the ACC basketball conferences --- 21 game appearances short of the UCLA's 221.
