Information About the Cotton Bowl

The Cotton Bowl refers to a football game competition played every year in the U.S since 1937. The game is played in a stadium in Texas, Dallas. In February 2007 it was decided that the game should be moved to the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The move made the Cotton Bowl officials begin attempts to become a part of the Bowl Championship Series. The other members in this contract are the Sugar, Rose, Orange bowls, and Fiesta.

Between 1989 and 1995 the game had Mobil Oil as its sponsor. During this period it was called Mobil Cotton Bowl Classic. The Cotton Bowl was sponsored by the South western Bell Corporation for a while from 1996. The Cotton Bowl went through several name changes. In 2000 the organization adopted the standardized "SBC" branding. This reflected the name it adopted in 1995, SBC Communications. In 2006, when the acquisition of AT&T was concluded, the name was again changed to the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.
