About the Tigers

The Auburn Tigers football team is the official team representing the Auburn University. They are members of the NCAA Division and the Football Bowl Division and compete annually in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference. The Auburn Tigers made history in 1892, for being the very first football team to play a football game in the Deep South.

The coach who is currently in charge of the Auburn Tigers is head coach Tommy Tuberville. Tuberville has been head coach of the college football team since 1999 and he is reputed to be one of the major forces that make Auburn successful. He led Auburn to as the only coach to beat Auburn's rival, the l University of Alabama six consecutively games. He was a recipient of the 2004 Walter Camp and Paul Bryant Coach of the Year award for leading Auburn to an unblemished 13-0 winning season. They won the 2004 SEC conference that season which was their first title in the conference since 1989 and the first outright claim to the title since the season of 1987. Some of Auburn's other noted head coaches were College Football Hall of Fame members such as John Heisman and Mike Donahue.
