Arkansas State Indians: A Brief History

Indians is the name of the college football team representing the State University of Arkansas. The State University of Arkansas fields 18 sport teams participating in 13 different sports. Arkansas State University is a public university that is sprawled on 800 acres of land on Crowley's Ridge in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The motto for Arkansas State University is Powering Minds. The Arkansas Legislature as an agricultural training school for the region founded it in 1909. The mascot committee of the school on January 2008 decided to retire the term 'Indian' as the Team's mascot and is deciding on using a variation of the word 'Wolves'. February is the chosen date for retiring the Indian mascot and name.
