A Little Bit About the Alamo Bowl

A popular annual American football game competition is the Alamo Bowl. The game has been played every year since 1993 in the 65,000 seating capacity Alamo-dome in San Antonio, Texas. It usually ranks among the 4th or the 5th position in the teams for the Big Ten Conference and the Big 12 Conference. Alamo Bowl was previously known as the Builders Square Alamo Bowl from1993 to 1998, Sylvania Alamo Bowl during 1999 to 2001 and then, the MasterCard Alamo Bowl, 2002 to 2005.

The logo of the event has changed as per the change in the sponsorship. In May 2007 a partnership was announced between the Alamo Bowl and the Valero Energy Corporation. After that the bowl's name became the Valero Alamo Bowl. In 1996 the players of the Iowa Hawkeyes wore black helmets without their logos to honor the death of Mitchell's mother, who got killed in an auto accident on the way to watch the game. The Alamo bowl was one of the most controversial games in 2005.
