Washington Capitals: A Brief History

This is a team of ice hockey professionals in Washington D.C. they belong to the southeast division of eastern conference of NHL. The team joined the league when it was expanding during the 1974-75 season. Abe Pollin was the owner of the team. Ted Leonsis took over the team in 1999. Initially the team was not favorably placed as there were very few players with considerable experience in the team. They did not get off to a flying start. After a bad run the team restructured itself. They took in David Poile as the general manager. He then took in Craig Laughlin, Doug Jarvis, Brian Engblom and Rod Langway. The team was thus powered to play very well and reached the playoffs in 1983. They did not perform to the expectations but their excellent turn around became legendary.
