Toronto Varsity coach Conn Smythe bid on the St.Patricks team and took control of the team in 1927 and he renamed the team as Maple Leafs. Smythe was instrumental in building the new Maple Leafs Gardens in 1931 and slowly but surely the team began to get its due recognition in the history of the NHL. The team has won the Stanley Cup 13 times so far and has been division champions for 5 years. The Maple Leafs currently plays at Air Canadian center and the team's jersey colors are white and blue.
