A Brief History of the Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning represent the South East division of the Eastern Conference in the NHL and has come into the league only in 1992. It so happened that the NHL wanted to add a new team from the areas which had no representations as they wanted to tap the growing popularity of the hockey in America and one such place they identified was the Tampa Bay in Florida. Thus sprang into NHL, The Lightning, under the able coaching skills of Terry Crisp and they played their home matches at the Expo Hall. In 1993-94, the Lightning changed their venue to Thunderdome and the team started attracting lot of people to watch their matches.
