The St. Louis Blues: A Brief History

This is a team of ice hockey professionals in St. Louis. They belong to the central division of western conference of national hockey league. The team has got the name from the song "St. Louis blues" by W.C handy. It plays its home games at Scottrade center in St. Louis.

This team was added to the league during the expansion in 1967. In their initial years they were coached by Lynn Patrick. He was succeeded by Scotty bowman. The team got into the final round in the initial three seasons with the league. The team was not very successful in the 1970s. The alterations in the playoff format and the loss of their players Bowman, Plante, Berenson and Goyette deteriorated the condition of their team. The team was taken over by Purnia in 1977. The team started improving and in the 1981 season they had 45 wins. The team was taken over by Ornest and he ran the team fairly well. In the 1986-87 they managed to reach the semi finals of the league. Brett hull became one of the superstars of the league. In the 1990s mike Keenan was hired as the coach of the team. They earned the president's trophy in 1999-2000 for the best record in the NHL.
