A Brief History of the Sharks

The San Jose Sharks of California is a part of Western Conference's Pacific Division. The Sharks were formed in 1990 as an expansion team. They play their games at the HP Pavilion, known by fans as 'the Shark Tank.' Their first two seasons were unproductive. However, in the 1993-94 season, San Jose Sharks surprised the ice hockey world by putting up a total of 58 more points than their previous season's total ' that of 82 points, qualifying for the playoffs. They faced the almost certain winners The Detroit Red Wings in the first round. Almost miraculously, The Sharks upset The Red Wings and moved on to the second round, where they lost. The Sharks made it to the playoffs again in the 1994-95 season, and reached the second round.
