Jersey Devils: Past and Present

This ice hockey team which is highly professional was formed in 1974 in the city of Kansas in Missouri and was known as Mohawks. Due to the objection of the Chicago Black Hawks, the team was renamed as Scouts. The first match of Scouts was against Maple Leafs and the Scouts lost the game 6-2. After an unsuccessful stint in Kansas, they moved to Denver and named the team as Colorado Rockies. They tasted success in Denver for only a short period and lack of consistency was a major problem. The team had to change many coaches and the ownership was transferred to Arthur Imperatore in 1978. Arthur tried to shift the team to New Jersey but turned out to be unsuccessful.
