History of the Red Wings
Detroit Red wings is a team of ice hockey professionals in Detroit. They were founded in 1925. They are of the central division of National Hockey league. This is an original team of the league. Thanks to the game Detroit has earned the epithet "hockey town". They rank third in the NHL and have the unique distinction of having won the most number of Stanley cup championships. They played in the Olympia stadium in the initial few years but now they play in Joe Arena.
They reached the Stanley cup playoffs in 1929 under the captaincy of Carson cooper. They won the Stanley cup for the first time in 1936. They reached the finals in the 1940s in three consecutive games. Since 2005 it has been having a good run. In 2005-2006 season they played 82 games where they won 58 and finished 1st, central. In the 2006-2007 season they played 82 games and won 50.
