About the Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets were formed only in 2000. They ended their first season with 71 points and 28 wins, and could not qualify for the playoffs. Geoff Sanderson scored 30 goals. The 2001-02 season was not very lucrative as The Blue Jackets finished with only 57 points. In March 2002, a 13 year old spectator was killed from a misdirected shot by Espen Knutsen. This led to the putting up of nylon nets behind the goals, and The Jackets wore small hearts with BNC inscribed on their helmets thereon.
