A Brief History of the Hurricanes
With the help of a stunning performance by Aaron Ward, the team defeated Edmonton Oilers to win their first ever Stanley Cup, and Ward was awarded with the Conn Smythe Trophy. The following season, Carolina Hurricanes failed to make it to the playoff, becoming the second team to win the Stanley Cup after missing the playoffs the preceding and the following year.
