About the Boston Bruins

This is a team of ice hockey players in Boston. They belong to northeast division of eastern conference of national hockey league. The team was founded in 1924. This was the first American franchise during the expansion of the league. The team plays at TD Banknorth garden. Initially it played in Boston garden. The team has Blades the Bruin as its mascot.

After the induction into the league the team played the first few seasons quite well. In 1926-27 the team took in Eddie shore and reached the Stanley cup final. After two years the team bagged its first win in the Stanley cup finals. The team remained competitive throughout the next many seasons. In the 1980s they reached the playoffs in every season. The 1993 season was however disappointing for the team. This trend continued and the team missed the playoffs for the first time in 1997 in the past 30 years. The team could not reach the playoffs in 2000-01. In the next season the likes of Glen Murray, Bill Guerin, Brian Rolston, Sergei Samsonov and Joe Thornton helped the team improve their position remarkably. The team took in Tuukka Rask and looks set to perform well in the current season.
