The Tennessee Titans: A Brief History

The Tennessee Titans football team consists of professional American Footballers based in Nashville, Tennessee. They are members of the Southern Division of the American Football conference in the National Football League. They began to play in 1960 and were then known as the Houston Oilers. The Oilers had earlier won two AFL competitions before becoming a part of AFL-NFL merger. The oilers moved to Tennessee in 1977 and changed their name in 1999 to Titans.

The Tennessee Titans team is owned by Bud Adams, a Houston oil magnate. Initially the club's logo was Derrick, an oil rig and has remained the same over the years apart from color changes here and there. The uniforms are mainly made up of white or blue jersey, white pants with red trim. After the name change, in 1999, a new logo was introduced and it had a circle of three stars which looked almost like the flag of Tennessee. Jeff Fisher is the present coach and has held the position since 1994.
