History of the Pro Bowl

The Pro Bowl was actually revived by the National Football League in January of 1951. However, it was in existence before 1951 when it was officially dubbed with the name Pro Bowl. Before then it was going by the name "Pro All-Star Game" and the very first game was played on January 15, 1939. This was the very first post-season all-star game in addition to the NFL schedule for the end of the 1938 playing season and it would feature the new league champions in opposition against a team of professional all-stars taken from best players of other teams. The first Pro Bowl game took place at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles, California. The winners of this very first Pro All-Star Game was the New York Giants.
