The New York Giants is a professional American football team whose home is the New York metropolitan area as a rule. Tim Mara originally bought the team for the sum of $500.00 dollars in 1925 and then changed the name to that of the New York Football Giants. Mara did that so his football team would not be in confused with the baseball team also called the New York Giants that played in the Polo Grounds.
