Bruce Springsteen has been the working-class hero of rock & roll for nearly three decades. Springsteen's work in the eighties earned him superstar status. In spite of all the fame and acclaim that typically accompanies such titles Springsteen has remained true to his artistic calling and has shown to be among the most thoughtful and articulate artists in the rock industry.
Springsteen grew up in Freehold, New Jersey, the son of a bus driver and a secretary. He took up the guitar when he was 13 and joined the group, "The Castiles" a year later. In 1966 the Castiles recorded (but never released) two songs co-written by Springsteen. After graduating from high school, Springsteen spent the summer playing with the Cream influenced trio ,"Earth", and hanging out in Asbury Park, New Jersey. That fall, He enrolled at Ocean County Community College. When a New York producer promised him a contract, he dropped out of school. He never saw the producer again
