Bob Seger is "On the Road Again"

Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on May 6, 1945, Bob Seger had a hard beginning. Abandoned by their father when Seger was young the family shared a small one-bedroom apartment, living in near poverty.

At age 16, Seger was the leader of a three-piece band known as "the Decibels". Shortly thereafter, he joined "Doug Brown and the Omens" originally as their organist, then later as lead vocalist and songwriter. The band made it's recording debut using the name "the Beach Bums". They released a tongue-in-cheek version of the then hugely popular Barry Sadler hit,' The Ballad Of The Green Beret", The record - 'The Ballad Of The Yellow Beret'- was shortly withdrawn from the market when the band was threatened with lawsuits.
