Keith Urban was born in Whangarei, New Zealand, but moved to Caboolture, Queensland, Australia at an early age. He knew early on that he wanted to be a country singer and by age seven was already imagining his move to Nashville to be a star. He began honing his skills and by age 8 had won several singing competitions around Australia. Before he had reached his teens, Keith was already booking regular gigs at local clubs for himself and his band.

As a teenager, Keith quit school to perform and tour. He released his first album, on EMI in Australia, at the age of 23. He charted no less than four #1 country singles. Two years later, he packed up and moved half way across the world to Nashville to live out his dreams.
