George Carlin Comedy Act
George Denis Patrick Carlin is a Grammy-award winning American stand-up comedian, actor, and author. He was born in New York City, New York to parents Mary, a secretary, and Patrick Carlin, a national advertising manager for the New York Sun.
Carlin grew up in a neighborhood in Manhattan and was raised by his mother, who left Carlin's father when he was just two years old. He dropped out of Cardinal Hayes High School at the age of 14 and later on joined the United States Air Force, where he was trained as a radar technician and as a disc jockey. During this time, he also worked as a disc jockey. He was not able to complete his Air Force enlistment and was labeled by his superiors as an "unproductive airman". Carlin was discharged from the Air Force in 1957. In 1959, Carlin along with Jack Burns created a comedy tandem for the radio station KXOL in Fort Worth, Texas. After several years of successful performances in Texas, the duo moved their act to California where they entertained audiences and performed together for a couple of years before moving on to their individual pursuits.
