History of the Wizards

The team known as the Washington Wizards spent many years looking for their identity in the NBA. They started out as the Chicago Packers in 1961 and in the next season they became the Zephyrs. After these two name changes in Chicago they moved the franchise to Maryland and became the Baltimore Bullets, spending several seasons there before moving again to Washington and playing by the name of the Washington Bullets in 1974.

For the remainder of the seventies the Bullets were able to make it to the NBA Finals four times and they even defeated the Seattle Supersonics to take home the NBA Championship in 1977-78 season. They consistently won at least 35 games in the twenty two years that took them from 1967-68 seasons to the 1988-89 seasons.
