A Brief Bio Of The Spurs
One of the most memorable players associated with the Spurs is George Gervin. From 1976 to 1985, Gervin led the Spurs in both physical victory and leadership. This is documented by the 44-38 record in 1976-1977 seasons as they tied for fourth place. This continued as the Spurs captured 5 division titles in the first seven years.
Following Gervin's trade, the Spurs began a downward turn until they acquired first round draft pick David Robinson. While the end of the 1980's was dismal, the Spurs continued to strive for its former glory.
As the 1989/90 season begins, the Spurs quickly begin to claim their former spot. The addition of John Lucas as Head Coach only gave way to the inspiration. Through the middle of the 1990's, the Spurs were paralleled into wins a roller coaster that finally changed course with the completion of the Alamodome. This was to remain their fate through most of the 1990's.
In 1997, things turned around for the San Antonio Spurs. Led by Robinson and Duncan, the Spurs began their climb to the top where they have stayed. While the 2002/03 season added to their winning streak by drafting Tony Parker in 2001 who is a top contender player to be feared.
While the NBA San Antonio Spurs have had their share of triumphs, they are not to be outdone by some of the team members. Just lately, Tony Parker wed actress Eva Longoria in what is described as a wedding to have been seen.
