Background on the Kings

The team began in 1945 as the Rochester Royals where they were part of the NBL. As a very successful team, they won two Championships during their first two years, and later winning a Championship in 1951 after they became a member of the NBA. 1957, the team was relocated to Cincinnati where they played from 1957 to 1972.

They once again moved in 1972 where the name was changed to the Kansas City-Omaha Kings; however, in 1975 Omaha was dropped and they played the next ten years as the Kansas City Kings. They moved for the last time to Sacramento in 1985, where they are known to all as the NBA Sacramento Kings.
