History of the Magic
As the 1991-1992 season approached, the team found themselves faced with injuries from every sector of the team. As it took its toll, the Magic were not to be discouraged as the finished with a 21-61 record.
The 1992-1993 season would be the turning point when Shaquille O'Neal joined the team. Having already established his name as a dominant player, the Magic ended the season with a 41-41 tie. So close to the goal, yet not quite reached, the season offered a different kind of victory when Orlando was able to bring in Penny Hardaway through the draft lottery. The Shaq ' Hardaway duo brought Orlando their first playoff game with as they dominated the game.
As they moved up as a top contender, headed straight toward the Championship, Orlando was knocked to its knees when Shaq, a free agent, announced he was leaving Orlando in July, 1996. With the core of the team gone, the Magic struggled to right the balance but never could quite get past that point.
With the addition of Chris Weber and the climb of Tracy McGrady through the 2002-2003 season, the Orlando Magic began to make headway. As the team is constant in its attempts to regain itself, it began to show hope in the 2006-2007 season. Only time will tell where this team will go, but, you never know, after all, it is Orland home of magic.
