About the Knicks

For all this however, the Knicks fell on hard times in the six year stretch between 1960-1966, when they consistently scored last in their division.

However, upon hiring head coach Red Holzman, they began to finally step up as a truly contending team. By 1968, they again returned to the playoffs. They smashed the play offs until being defeated by the Boston Celtics, one of the NBA's foremost basketball dynasties.

With a 60-22 record, however, in the 69-70 season they won a record breaking 18 straight victories, and going to be the franchise's all time best season. The string of successes went on until 1974, when their eight season winning streak was demolished by an earth shattering 40-42 season record. Nevertheless they still made it into the playoffs, only to be smashed by a first round upset against the Rockets.

The team remained a largely consistent team, although they went both up and down in the charts, they maintain a solid record of consistently making playoff appearances, even if they have not won a championship since 1973 against the Lakers.

They managed to stunt the bleeding for some time with Patrick Ewing, however following his trade to the Supersonics in 2000; the team has remained largely marginalized in professional basketball, just yearning to return to their days of former glory.
