NBA Finals: A Brief History

The NBA finals always provide fantastic, memorable and tense moments for everyone concerned and over the years the NBA finals have seen their fair share of history. It all started 49 years ago when the Boston Celtics won the St. Louis Hawks after a gruelling seven game series in 1957.

That was the very beginning of a franchise that continues to grow and get better every year. The Celtics have always been the front runners in the finals from the very beginning.

In the seasons of 1956-57, the Celtics actually finished with the best record for the league (44-28). At that time there was actually only a maximum of eight teams in the NBA, and all the domination was coming right from the East. The four teams that were in the West all had terrible losing records in that particular year.
