A Brief History of the Grizzlies
In 1995, the NBA made a choice to expand into Canada, forming two teams. The Memphis Grizzlies were one of them. When they first began, the team was formed by adding members from other teams. With a start that appeared to boost them into overdrive, it did not last as they ended the season in last place, after losing 23 games in a row.
In an attempt to build the team up, the Grizzlies made good draft choices, but remained in last place each year, claiming another record as worst in the league. As 1996 approached, the team drafted Shareef Abdur-Ramin with hopes he would be able to bring the team to a winning position. However; ending in last place, the Grizzlies once again won the honor.
