A Look at the Clippers

In 1970 the Clippers were one of the three franchises to join the NBA; their name at the time was the Buffalo Braves. The Braves played at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium and their first head coach was Dolph Schayes. The Braves first season was a dismal attempt however one of their star players Bob Kauffman earned a spot on the 1971 NBA Eastern Conference All Star Team.

The next season showed no sign of the club getting better and Schayes was replaced by John McCarthy. In the 1972-73 season the team did nothing better even though they made their third coach change. Their new coach was Dr. Jack Ramsay. The team finally got a chance to go to the playoffs in the 1973-74, but were quickly dismissed by the Boston Celtics.
