Golden State Warriors: A Brief History

For all of their transitions through cities before finally settling down in Oakland, the Warriors are one of the few teams to preserve their original identity. From the first day of their debut in 1946 to now, they've maintained their Warrior franchise name, and through Philadelphia and San Francisco they maintained this identity.

In the 1955-56 seasons, the Warriors claimed their only championship title while in Philadelphia in a four to one game domination over the Fort Wayne Pistons. For all this, however, the Warriors did not become the legends they were until they acquired Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain in 1959, who shattered NBA records with a single game achievement of 100 points.
