History of the Cleveland Cavs

From its beginnings as a franchise expansion team in 1970 to the use of a citywide contest to determine its name, Cleveland fans loved the Cavaliers. However, despite all the expectations the Cavs lost the first year. As the 1971/72 season began on an up note with Austin Carr being selected in the first round draft and off to a promising start, brings a darken cloud as they finished last place again.

The following four years brought the same up and downs, and then some; in the fact the 1972/73 season brought the first plague of injury that would affect the team over and over. While each year there was hope for a win, only to come in last place time and again.
