History of the Celtics

After all, who wouldn't treat themselves to a taste of greatness in what is possibly one of the most successful and celebrated teams to grace the sport?

The Celtics are as old as the NBA itself. They were formed in 1946 just before the merger between the BAA and NBL, and in turn found themselves beginning a long tradition of greatness by drafting the first African American basketball player in the form of Chuck Cooper. After several ups and downs and one lucky dispersal draft, coach Red Auerbach transformed the struggling Celtics into a world class team.
