The team was established in 1977 and was originally based at Exhibitions Stadium in Toronto. Twelve years later they moved to the SkyDome. In 1985, the Jays won their first championship: the first of their five American League East division titles. In the period of time from 1989 -1991, the Toronto Blue Jays were on the top of their sports career, becoming the first Major League club ever to draw over four million fans in one season. In 1989, the team finished the season with 89 wins and 73 losses; in 1990 ' with 86 wins and 76 losses, and in 1991 ' with 91 wins and 71 losses.
In 1992-1993, the Toronto Blue Jays became World Series Champions. The Jays had several spectacular games in the World Series, including Game 4, in which the Blue Jays came back from a 14-9 deficit to win 15-14 and take 3 games to 1 lead in the series. This unforgettable game remains the highest scoring game in history of the World Series. This period ended up for the Jays with 96 wins and 66 losses in 1992, and 95 wins and 67 losses in 1993. During the period of time from 1994 to 2004, the team acquired lots of new players, including Alex S. Gonzalez, Carlos Delgado and Shawn Green, who helped contribute to the team's success, though a bit moderate. The level of the Jays play during this period was rather medium than high, they did not lose their face and came up for the 2005 season with their heads raised high. Since 2004, the Blue Jays has become the only MLB teams outside the United States. The record of the team in 2005 mounted to 80 wins and 82 losses.
The latest season was marked by persistent injuries that the players got during the games. B.J. Ryan was out for the entire season. Luckily for the team, the young pitchers, including Dustin McGowan, Casey Janssen and Jeremy Accardo helped the Jays stand by. The 2007 season was highlighted by the matchup against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, when the Jays rallied from being down 11-6 in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Rays to win 12-11 on a RBI walk-off base on balls by Aaron Hill. This glorious victory moved them to within 1 game under .500.
At present, the team shows a very good playing. Their direct rivals are considered the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians.
