Texas Rangers Brief History
The Texas Rangers, based in Arlington, Texas, are a member of the Western Division of MLB's American League. From 1994, the Rangers have had their ballpark in Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The origin of the teams name the Rangers is connected with the famous law enforcement agency having the same name.
The club was started in Washington DC in 1961 as the Washington Senators and then was transferred to Arlington to become the Texas Rangers in 1972. The Rangers have never played in a World Series and have never won a league championship. Well, they have something to fight for. For most of their experience as the Washington Senators, they were a losing team. They were losing an average of 90 games a season. The teams most accomplished player at that time was Frank Howard, who contributed to the teams winning two home run titles.
