Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Information
After the Disney Company took control over the team in 1997, they sponsored extensive renovation of Angel Stadium. By the way, both the stadium and the team were given the name including the word Anaheim. Walt hoped to make Anaheim a main tourist attraction.
In 2002 the Angels played against Barry Bonds and the San Francisco Giants in the World Series. The Giants won games 1,4,5 and the Angels won games 2,3,and 6. Game 6 is noted as one of the best games in World Series History. The Angels trailed the Giants 0-5 with 2 innings left and came back to beat them 6-5. Eventually the Angels overcame the Giants in Game 7 to become World Champions.
A new owner Arte Moreno In 2005 changed the name back to the original.
Choose the name you like but remember the Angels are the incumbent American League West Champions and the club's 435 winning percentage still stands as the best of any expansion team in major league history.
