Cincinnati Reds Information

Baseball's 1st openly all-professional team, the original Cincinnati Red Stockings, was founded as an amateur club in 1863. They became fully professional six years later. The Red Stockings were the winners of 130 straight games throughout 1869 and 1870, before they were defeated by the Brooklyn Atlantics. The 1869 Red Stockings made an eastern swing of twenty-one games and went undefeated. The following year, the Red Stockings lost only 1 game. The Stockings were defeated at the Brooklyn Atlantics' Capitoline Grounds. According to Camp, the Stockings lost 8-7 in eleven innings.
