Chicago Cubs Brief History
Based in Chicago, Illinois, the Chicago Cubs are members and current champions of the Central Division of MLB's National League. The Cubs play their home games at the historic Wrigley Field. The Chicago Cubs have been playing baseball at this site for over nine decades, since 1916. The team is one of two MLB clubs in Chicago, the other being the Chicago White Sox of the AL.
The Chicago Cubs are often referred to as The Cubbies, and The Northsiders, in contrast to the White Sox that play on the city's South Side. The Chicago Cubs are 1 of the only 2 remaining charter members left in the NL (together with the Atlanta Braves), and the only charter team in its original city.
