Dbacks are at it again!

The team was led by Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling in 2001. The team beat the reigning champions, the New York Yankees, 4 to 3, to become the youngest expansion franchise to win the World Series. The team would win the NL West again in 2002, but swept out in the NLDS by the Cardinals.

The Diamondbacks had dropped to a dismal 51-111 record by the 2004. That record was the worst in Major League Baseball that year and also one of the 10 worst records in the past 100 years of MLB! After all that the Diamondbacks hired Wally Backman to be the team's manager, which resulted in the Diamondbacks' finishing the 2005 season with a record of 77 wins and 85 losses. In fact, it was a 26-game improvement over 2004.

Unfortunately the Diamondbacks failed to improve on their 2005 performance in a weak NL West division. The Diamondbacks made several significant trades during the offseason in preparation for the next season.

The Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies to secure a position in the 2007 playoffs in September, 2007. The team took the series to Wrigley Field after taking the first two games at home against the Cubs. On the whole, the 2007 season was a great success. The team won the first place in NL West with a 90-72 record, won NLDS vs Chicago Cubs 3-0 and lost Lost NLCS vs Colorado Rockies 0-4. In 2007 offseason, the team made a number of changes to its rooster, trading a number of new players.
